I’ve had a few kitesurfing lessons in the past in Seattle and Houston, but Sammy was by far the most helpful and most interested teacher I’ve been able to work with. He knows exactly what’s going on and how to best teach you to get up and riding. I would recommend him to anyone looking for lessons on the water.
I had the pleasure of getting an afternoon of windsurfing lessons from Sammy when I was in Hawaii in 2013! He was just a great and patient instructor and really helped me get all those nasty kinks out of my technique because I tried to teach myself before… Best thing was how safety conscious he was and making sure that I was safe at all times. Best experience I’ve had with an instructor in pretty much any sport, yet!
Our group had a group lesson with Sammy and it was FANTASTIC! Sammy and Brandon were great with our group that included a number of kids. They even took our 7 & 8 year olds on their board all the way out to the island at Kailua beach. Sammy even surfed with my son! Highly recommended!!
Sammy was great and super easy to work with. He dropped off and picked up the boards for us eliminating any hassle on our end, and he was super flexible with our timing needs. I recommend him 100%!!
Sammy was highly recommended by my son’s coach in New York. We called him when we arrived, he was personable and flexible with our time as vacationers. Both of my teenage boys took kitesurfing and surfing lessons during our stay. He and Carlos were amazing; thoughtful, patient and completely respectful. My youngest said it was the highlight of our two week stay! I would highly recommend him!
Sammy came highly recommended to me as a great kite board instructor when I was visiting Kailua Beach Park. Sammy and Carlos were so knowledgable, professional and positive! Kite surfing can be a bit challenging to learn, but Sammy worked with my skill level. He was always so nice and accomodating! My only regret was not starting the lessons as soon as I got to Oahu.
If you want to learn how to kiteboard or surf, look no further than Sammy. He’s professional, relate able, and just an overall really good guy. I’ve been late for a couple of session we’ve schedule and the dude is calm as an oyster. Sorry for those bro. I met his family today too and they are all super chill. Keep up the good work, bud.
A friend and I took surfing lessons from Sammy about a month ago. He accommodated us even though it was very last minute. He was an excellent instructor and had so much energy! This being my first time, I got pretty tired but he kept me positive and motivated.
We booked a lesson with Sammy and it was awesome! It was my boyfriend’s first time surfing and I had had a few lessons in the past but this was by far the best! Seeing immediately that I was the weakest link for paddling he helped me the whole time which was really nice. His style of teaching is different than I’ve experienced in the past and it helped me actually get up more often and stay up! If you want to get away from the craziness of Waikiki where you are competing with 20+ people for one wave head out to Lanakai beach (we rode scooters out, which was awesome! Just make sure you pack something warm for the ride back) and take lessons with Sammy!
We checked out paddle boards for the day, and Sammy made it super easy. He met us at Kailua Beach Park, where we had the option of paddling around a canal or in the ocean, and gave us a quick lesson before we ventured off. His rates were the best I’d been quoted ($50 per board for all day rental). Also very nice & prompt – definitely recommend!
